Cleaning the stove top...it's a good thing!

Hanalei has the original Hiller Range Alcohol 2 burner with oven stove manufactured by SeaWard in California. Over the years the stove top had discolored due to heat.

To fix this, I removed the stove top, removed the burner grates (new ones are available from SeaWard, took the top home and cleaned it with oven cleaner. Once all the gook was removed, the discoloration remained. To remove that, I purchased a 2" cup brush(wire brush in the shape of a cup)chucked it in a electric drill and polished the entire top surface of the top. It came out great. Yes, it is no longer a "polished stainless steel" top, it has a brushed look to it! But, it is now clean and shiny, looks good and only took a few minutes to do.

You might want to try it....FWIW
