CD28 spreader base source

Post by sgbernd »

I have a cracked cast aluminum spreader base. Does anybody have any information to source a replacement?

I called rig rite but all I could get was phone menus telling me to go to their website which does not show them.

If somebody has a part number on this, it would be helpful.

Thanks,

Steve Bernd

Your boat probably has a Spartan CD-4 mast section and 1-1/4" diameter spreaders. The rig rite
part no. for a triangular spreader base for 1-1/4" spreaders is SP-089. The rectangular base is
SP-089-0. These only work with the 1-1/4" dia spreaders. If you have 1-5/16" dia spreaders, you
probably will have to talk to rig-rite and see what they might have for you.
Look at the CD-4 spartan mast section area on the rig rite web site to verify. Good luck - Jean

I had a crack on one of mine and was able to get it welded. He was a old timer who knew about aluminum welding. I was a little skeptical at first, but I recall it cost less than $50 and, as they say, was "as good as new." Worth checking out.

Thanks much for the help.

I have a request for price to Rig Rite and will see where it goes from there.

Finally got hold of Rig Rite. They are out of the triangular base for 1 5/16 diam and have no plans to replenish the stock.

So next will be attempts to get it welded. It is pretty corroded but will see what they can do.

Thanks again.

Hi, I had a similar issue on my CD 27. After trying to find the right stuff from all of the usual suspects I took the broken one to a machine shop and had them fabricate it. About $200 if I recall correctly and well worth having a proper solution.
