I'm considering a main sail uphaul on the top of my CD26d (hull#78, last CD26 hull made). Probing inside I determined the "dead space" between the headliner and the inner roof surface to be ~3/4 inch. Does anyone know the thickness of the fiberglass roof? Has anyone mounted a winch and necessary hardware for an uphaul on the roof of a CD26? If so, how did you mount the gear and reinforce the underside?

I used the mast step organizer on my CD25. My parts list shows up in this thread:

I think cockpit lines are more useful on the smaller boats (CD25 & CD22) than my current boat CD30 or Tiara (CD36) because when the weather dials up the deck near the mast is a lot more "lively" on a smaller boat than a larger boat. I still agree it's good to head up to the mast whenever you can, just for practice.
PS I used 5200 but don't do that -- use something less tenacious like SikaFlex 291.

I don’t know if this helps, but here goes. I have a CD33 and I am removing unnecessary deck fittings. I am not on the boat now but the coach roof has about 1/4 in fiberglass top and bottom with about 3/4 to an inch of balsa core. And there is a gap to the liner. I dislike having the liner, but it is not insignificant either, probably 1/4 inch. Mounting new deck fittings, I drill an oversized hole and dremel out the core. Then I fill with epoxy and redrill for whatever machine screw I am using. I haven’t decided how to put in backing plates yet, probably cut out the liner and use wood or G10 for plates.
