When I try to search messages, I get a blank CDIE screen and the browser hangs, trying to load, but to no avail. Is this a problem with my browser?

Search Messages Not Working??
Moderator: Jim Walsh
Re: It is working
Bill,
The Search feature on the Message Board is working as it should. Please keep in mind that when you Search the system has to search through thousands of records. If you're not connected to the internet using Ethernet speeds, the search can take several minutes. Your browser's connection will definitely time out. But the session will have been cached by your browser, so try clicking on your browser's Reload or Refresh button to continue the search where it left off. Hopefully it won't time out a second time and the search results will appear. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause but the size of the message archive, low connection speed, and internet status all have unavoidable effects.
Please try again.
What are you looking for? Maybe I can point you in the right direction so that you don't have to waste your time searching. I've got a fast connection and can usually get search results before it times out.

It can be slow.
The search function takes a lot of computer power. It has to look through more than 20 megabytes of messages now. Since the new servers were installed, it can be a lot faster, but at times it just takes a while.Bill Goldsmith wrote: When I try to search messages, I get a blank CDIE screen and the browser hangs, trying to load, but to no avail.
Be patient with it, and try to use it sparingly.

Re: It is working
Thanks Catherine and Walt.
And thanks for all your efforts in maintaining this resource.
I was going to do a number of searches on the subject of my post earlier today about mast inspection, suggestions, spreader light suggestions, etc. I wanted to review the knowledge base before starting a new thread.
I will try to search again (at work I have a T1 which seemed to hang. I will be more patient!).
