Has anyone worked with any kits that would be used for the above? Could be teak but also open to other wood types.

If it were me, I would make one out of Cypress, far, far less expensive and it will last long enough. If you let it go gray it will look just like gray teak. If you stain it and oil it, it will look like teak. If you make a mistake while making it, you won't cry.

You could look at something like this for the grate part and notch into bordering teak planks that fit the cockpit floor. We have this aboard Femme which, while it may capture my little toe once in a while and require me to reglue it every two years and oil it often, is a great feature aboard. I too would look at alternative woods like shorea or Iroko maybe even white oak, if you are worried about botching it up.
