Rudder stops, bilge paint
I'm trying to figure out how to make rudder stops for the 30K with worm steering. Please respond if you have any info. Also I never liked bilge paint because of paint chips clogging the pumps. I'm wondering if I should paint all the new fiberglass work I've done inside like the chain backing plates and the windvane mounting plates and the now the mount bracket for the steering drive motor. I know how nice it looks. I don't want it to be a problem. As it is, a lot of the 40 yr old stuff is coming off.

Hey JD
I can’t remember if we emailed about rudder stops. I can tell you how I made them for the Far Reach. You’ll have to determine if that can work for you.
I am a fan of Interlux Grey Bilge Kote paint. I don’t care for the white as it has been know to turn yellowish over time. I have had good luck with the grey. Mostly only requires one coat. It’s pretty durable. No issue with it chipping off and you shouldn’t either as long as the surface you are painting is free from grease oil and dust and sanding residue. It’s not required to paint as there is very little UV contact with the lazarette area. I just think it looks nice.

Thanks John. I think I found your rudder stops on your site. I would love to paint the lazerette some day. When I’m in paint mode. Next summer.
