trailer tongue weight

Does anybody know the unloaded tongue weight of a Triad Trailer sized for a Typhoon Senior/CD22/CD25? I asked the Triad owner, he said 150 "was a pretty good guess" but I need a precise number if possible--am considering hauling the empty trailer with a vehicle that has a 150lb. tongue weight limit.

Towing guidelines usually call for 10% of the trailer weight on the hitch. I doubt that the trailer weighs 1500 pounds so you might be able to add some weight to the back of the trailer to take some off of the tongue.

Or you might find a buddy with a bigger vehicle, Steve.

Thanks, that's probably a good ballpark. Apparently this trailer weights about 1000 lbs., so that would put the tongue weight well under the limit.

If I had a spare $40K lying around I'd love to go buy a new 3/4 ton pickup--sold my '73 Dodge last spring--but at this point that's not looking very likely! Could use another plow truck for my 900-foot driveway.

I can pick up the tongue sans boat of course. Probably about 100-125 lbs maybe? Trailer weigh about 1200 I believe. Easily pulled empty with my 2004 Honda Odyssey...

Key though is placement of boat on trailer. Below is how mine sits.

I can’t tow it with the minivan when boat is on..I just rent a Uhaul truck or borrow my friends truck....
