Restoration of 1974 Typhoon #634

I've been restoring a 1974 Typhoon over the past year. She's almost done and will see water for the first time on over 15 years. I've attached a few before and after photos. I have some hardware from the project if anyone need them. Cleats, port lights, chock, aft deck outboard bracket (early type) blocks. Etc...

Thank you there's a coat of interlux dealer followed by eight coats of Epifanes. She'll get one or two coats every year.

Stunning! What is that hole on the aft deck above where the back stay attaches?

Also, were the original toerails in good enough shape that cleaning and varnishing were all they needed, or did you get new ones custom made?

I added a bronze inspection port to easier access to the backstay and outboard bracket mount. I also fabricated a mast crutch for it. The mast sits level over the boat with a winter cover on top.

I couldn't salvage any of the original teak...the rail was too far gone to refinish. I decided to replace all of it. It was a lot of work but the results are outstanding. I'm waiting for the new sails so she should be launched in the next week or so.

I was at Holiday Point Marina a week or so ago and believe I saw your boat, was blown away at how lovely she looks. I know a guy that keeps his boat there.

Thanks, Cliff. That was her - recently christened "Edna". She's on Back Creek in Annapolis for a few months. If your friend with the Typhoon there is Doug, please thank him to helping step the mast. He's a great guy!

These photos bring me full circle. The very first sailboat I owned was a little 21' swing keel. This was over 40 years ago!

If you look to the South or West from the marina you'll see an older house that with a small dock with 8 or 10 slips. The owner was an elderly lady who had been born there ( I think) had a dock with, as I recall 2 or 4 slips. I paid $200 a year, no electricity, which I didn't need anyway.
