Had the local rigger out for some work on the boat, and he pointed out things are loose at the gooseneck. Photo attached. He was going to shim it up for now, but the bolt and nut are frozen. Any damage to hitting this with our good friend PB blaster and seeing what it gets us? Also, is this ready for replacement, or is there still life in it?
Thx,
Chris

Re: CD27 gooseneck
Did you try using an impact wrench on it? The pulsing can frequently release stubborn nuts/bolts...

The rigger's words were "We used a little heat and oil and I really don't want to break anything you weren't already planning on repairing." I appreciated the caution.

Re: CD27 gooseneck
If it is really stuck then a hack saw might make the best wrench. I would soak it with PB Blaster and then try some pipe slipped over the wrenches to get some more leverage. If you break it then you still manged to take it apart. It's just a bolt that you could replace. It looks like the aluminum block is reason to get this apart. It shouldn't be to hard to fabricate a new one, once you get it out, Steve.

On Slainte, our 1980 27, that block is stainless steel. Stainless would still be an easy piece to make, it would just take a little longer.Steve Laume wrote:. . . .
