Radar malfunction

Post by Walter Hobbs »

My CD 27 came with a Raymarine C80 radar system.
The screen indicates "no data source" Removing the dome cover reveals that the array is not rotating. Tracing all cables back to the screen appears all connections are tight. I would like to check for voltage under the dome. However I cannot see how to disconnect the leads from the inside of the dome without damaging them. anyone know a trick?
Anything else I can check?
Just had to purchase a new mooring so calling a radar tech will have to wait for future funding.
Thanx

Be careful working on that thing up close while powered, it's like sticking your head in a microwave oven.

Raymarine has an online troubleshooting forum that is monitored by product experts. http://forum.raymarine.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=125 They might be able to steer you in the right direction.

Thanks Bill,

I'm aware that one is supposed to keep distance from active radar. I wonder what the techs do, wear a lead suit?

So far the Raymarine site has not been much help. I'll keep looking.
