My beloved 25D is now 37 years old, and she's doin' great overall.
I still have the original Signet Marine depth and speed meters in place. I never use the speed log, because my chartplotter gives me a nice SOG reading, but my digital depth sounder has been working accurately for all these years.
At the end of last season, I suddenly noticed an annoying squealing noise, which I determined was the grounding alarm on my depth sounder. I ignored it, since the boat was ready to be hauled. But the noise is still there--and it is intermittent, but annoying.
I've tried fiddling with the button on the depth sounder, but it seems to have no effect.
Aside from this, the antique depth sounder works perfectly.
Does anybody know how to disable the alarm?
Thanks,
--Joe
PS: I'm going to send an email to Signet, to see if they can help me. They are, amazingly, still in business.

I suspect this would work:
I really don't have anything against banjos, autoharps or dulcimers.
This is what the manual says: (I know not very helpful.)

Gee thanks, Rich!
Signet says they can do the repair with a three-day turnaround. Don't know the price yet, but I'm hoping to disconnect the offending unit and ship it out just before we leave for two weeks in the UK and Scotland. All I've got to do is figure out a foolproof temporary seal for the cockpit.
