Standard-Horizon 190i chart plotter?

Post by Joe Myerson »

Hi All,
I tried to buy an updated C-Map card for my 190i chart plotter, but Defender just called me to say that they cannot find any cards compatible with this older, but still perfectly functional, unit.

Following advice from Defender, I tried to contact Standard Horizon, but the "contact us" link on the company's web page no longer functions. I believe I had similar problems before.

Right now I'm looking at two possible solutions, one expensive, one cheap:

A) I could just continue using the old memory card, since my primary sailing waters do not change much year-over-year. I could update my paper charts, which I should do anyway.

B) I could buy a newer unit, which would certainly be more expensive. However, if I could find a unit that fits into my custom-made mount, I could bite the bullet and do so. After all, I'm not using a Mac Classic any more.

Any suggestions?

Joe how old is your unit? I have a fixed mount Garmin from 2006 that works perfectly fine. I haven’t tried recently but I’m pretty sure I can’t get chart updates for it. I just get new chart kits every few years. The aids to navigation don’t get moved too often in my section of Maine and the ledges move even less frequently.

If you don’t have radar but we’re thinking about a unit that might push me over the edge to get a combo unit.

Joe,

Contact C Map directly.

It looks to me like they still support your unit ...

I surfed around a little bit, then took a screen shot ...

Thanks, Fred.
I called them yesterday. And, yes, they still support my old plotter.
Problem solved!
