Teak Oil for Rub Rails
In an effort to make the maintenance of the rub rails a little easier, I have decided to switch to teak oil rather than Cetol, etc.
Does anyone have a brand that they prefer or any brands they dislike?
I am looking at these brands:
Amazon's Golden Teak Oil (gets high reviews)
Starbrite Premium Golden Teak Oil
Interlux Premium Teak Oil
Thanks!

From what I recall from reading here, avoid the Starbrite product...Bob Ohler wrote:In an effort to make the maintenance of the rub rails a little easier, I have decided to switch to teak oil rather than Cetol, etc.

I used the Semco Goldtone for a season and really liked the look. I didn't re-apply midseason, however, and
it faded as most teak oil finishes will. If you can keep up with the applications, you'll like it. - Jean

Re: Teak Oil for Rub Rails
I am going to use Totalboat Danish Teak Sealer (rather than teak oil) from Jamestown Distributors on my toe rails. In fact, I am probably going to use it on all of my teak. It has a lovely medium brown finish and is supposed to last an entire season after two coats have been applied, although I plan to reapply half way through the season just to be safe. I have added a picture of a small piece of trim that I have treated with two coats of the sealer.

Here are a couple of photos of my toe rails before and after being treated with Totalboat Danish Teak Sealer. I am very pleased with the results.

Very nice!, Cathy. To my eye, that finish is the cat's pajamas. - Jean
