Spreaders for CD30C

Post by zekmeister »

One of the spreader on my CD 30 has a bend on the base and am wary about straightening it. Any thoughts if it is safe to be reused this way.

Also while I'm on this subject can someone point me to the correct spreader dimensions for the CD30.

Appreciate the help.

Rig Rite supplied the original Spartan rigging parts. They don't seem to have the best customer service according to a few people on this board. You could probably source the spreaders from any spar company. I have used Dwyer in the past with very good results. They have changed owners in the past year so I can't speak for the current situation.

If I had a bent spreader, I would replace it. Once it is not in a pure compression situation by having a bend in it, the strength will be compromised. It can't cost much and is easy to change. If the spreader fails, the rig is soon to follow, Steve.

Thanks for the response. I ended up going to a local welder and we replicated the spreader. The round aluminum tube is available from a metal supply store. We used the old spreader as a template for where the holes were drilled, and the end caps, we reused.
