Outboard motor mount:
I recently acquired a CD 25. The motor was stuck in the well badly causing the rear of the motor to vibrate against the back of the well. The motor also set too high, preventing closing the locker cover. The mounting board is a short piece of 2x6 bolted to two short pieces of aluminum angel iron that are bolted to the side wall of the well. I'm going to remove it and replace I with something more sturdy. My question is should the mounting board be mounted to the side walls of the well or to the the forward wall? Or, does it matter? My outboard is a 5 hp Honda weighing about 50 lbs.

A current picture(s) would help on your well rebuild.
Any idea of your hull #.
The early hulls were different wells with fg mold that supported the gas tanks a lot better.
Sounds like you have a well like mine #66 1973.

Re: Outboard motor mount:
The hull number is 214. There are good tank mounts on platforms next to the well. At the top the well measures 18x13. Six inches down the well it measures 15x11. Also, the front all of the well is not good for using as a transom. It angles forward toward the cutaway. My current idea is to build a 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick aluminum box that fits into the top six or so inches of the well, making the forward wall straight. That would provide a firm mounting place for the outboard.
When I go over to the boatyard later this week I'll take some photos and put them in my next replay.
