Engine oil stain on cabin sole

Post by frankfurder »

Anyone come up with a solution to remove or reduce a cabin sole oil stain from sloppy bilge cleaning? Existing sole is teak veneer with no finish.

Clean as best you can with mineral spirits or turpine then oil the entire floor with teak oil.

Hi:
I used teak cleaner (oxalic acid) on my cabin floor and eliminated dirty engine oil stains. No sanding of the thin veneer is needed.
Three coats of varnish was then applied, which protected against future staining.
Since the cabin floor is not in the sun, the varnish doesn't break down.

Good Luck,
