Too many boats is one thing, but too many dock fees is way too much.

Very sad about the absence of new sailors these days. There ain't none!. I think the young folks would rather play around with their "devices" than get out on the water with the wind and water. I saw a CD30C on eBay that went unsold with no minimum price. I also saw a WestSail 32 with a new Beta 38 that was at Flag Harbor, MD. sold for $16,000. Good luck on selling your beautiful Cape Dory.

The neighbor kid across the street went to medical school. Paid for by the US Navy. He is down here at Camp Lejeune serving with the Marines for his first operational tour.

He and his wife bought a beat up 40 year old Catalina 22. They have sailed the heck out of it for the last six months. Sailing several times a week. Overnight camping on it and having a blast. They are head over heels about sailing. They are ow looking for a bigger boat.

So there are youngsters out there still getting bit by the sailing bug. The small boat regattas and raids are growing in popularity.

I think one issue is the sailing “industry”has made owning and sailing a boat just rediculously expensive. And it does not have to be that way but but many sailors, especially the new ones, don’t know that. It comes down to choices. Hard to blame them.

There is nothing more tiring than casting aspersions at those coming up behind us whose shoes we aren't walking in. It was exhausting in the general aviation world, and it's exhausting in the sailing world. It is a luxury to be afforded the opportunity we have with our crafts. We should spend more time being thankful for it than slagging on other people's choices.

Tim, your boat is gorgeous and an inspiration as I look at my 27 and think about what the winter projects will be.
