Dear Fellow CD Owners,
I use my ipad with iNavx and mount it in the cockpit with a rubber Rams suction cups port side, but it takes up too much space in the cockpit when we have four folks in the boat. I would like to mount it inside the boat and swing it out when it is in use and lock it in place, than swing back when not in use. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul, saw this on a Typhoon Senior and while it is readily available (Garmin) seems a bit bulky for an iPad. Wondering if a similar swing-out frame is available for iPads. Are you planning on using a "Bad Elf" connection? JD

My iPad is in a Lifeproof case (to keep it dry). I use a holder made by RAM Mount that has spring loaded ends to hold the iPad secure, and at the other end it has a thumbscrew type clamp so I can attach it to things on the boat, like a SS rail or the edge of a hatch board. In between there are a couple of pivot points with friction screws that allow for adjusting the angle as needed.
RAM makes so many different products, so I am sure there is something that would meet your exact requirements. While the versatility is great, it also means you have to be careful that you are ordering the right model for your iPad and case setup.
Mine has been in service for 4+ years and it really does well. The parts that I believe I used are:
While you can Google suppliers when time comes to place an order, here is the RAM website to get a good idea what they have: https://www.rammount.com/
For fun I did a search on their site using "double ball mount clamp" - many options.

- Holder = RAM-HOL-TAB3U
- Arm = RAM-B-121-202U (my only complaint is that the thumbscrew is not stainless, so maybe a RAP-401-202U would be better)

You might find a better selection via aircraft Spruce or one of the other aircraft product websites. iPads are commonly used for aircraft navigation and wx display.
