CD330 Boom

Post by distand »

I am looking to purchase a CD 3.5 section boom for my CD330. It came with an old Harken Stoboom but the furling feature is not being used. It is functional but don't really like the way it looks, it has some unfriendly edges at the bottom, which I know would meet my head one day, and it's quite heavy. Anyway, I am prepared to get a new extrusion but I thought I would check if anyone might have a used one or know of one.

Also, to the CD330 (and maybe CD33) folks out there, would anyone know the length of the original spartan boom? The "E" dimension on the CD33 spec sheet says 14 ft and the same dimension on the CD 330 spec sheet shows 13 ft (so maybe the boom length was different for the 33 vs the 330)

Thanks

Don,

The CD33 is a sloop rig. The CD330 is a cutter rig. I suspect the move the mast aft a bit in the redesign from sloop to cutter. Hence the boom being shorter.

Also the J on the CD330 is 9 inches longer than on the CD33...

When you determine the length of the boom don’t be too quick to purchase a rig-rite replacement. I have a spar craft mast and a US Spars boom. Happy with both. Both are lighter and as strong as the rig-rite spar. In fact, though the mast is 4’ longer, its 50 lbs lighter than the rig rite.

In the realm of looking for "silver Linings"...
If you are near where either Florence or Michael hit, you might check salvage yards for a replacement.
