One showed up today( Plath) on C's list Ventura with chain and rode $1000

John. $1000 is a good price if it’s in good shape, has been rebuilt, and has all the parts. The chain is a nice to have but only if it’s in good shape and it fits the gypsy (don’t assume it does) and it’s the size you want. The Plath 7A is aluminum. You don’t want that. You want the bronze 7B. Also, the gypsy has to fit the chain size you need for your boat.

You can find a rebuildable one for $300-$500. I spent three years looking for mine. If you want one you should start looking now. The one I just rebuilt and sold is a beauty. I wasn’t looking for it...I tripped over it...it was being used as a door stop.

Thanks. There is no way I can afford one. Not for for a long time. I hope my Lewmar will last many years.
