The 150 genoa on my CD 26 is worn out and I'm considering replacing it with a 135 genoa. My thoughts are the 135 would be more versatile than the 150. I would use the 135 in light to moderate winds (5 to 15kts.) with or without a reef in the main. I would appreciate comments from some of you that have used a 135 genoa on your Cape Dory.

Re: head sails for CD 26
When I first got KAYLA (CD28) she had a well-worn 150. I replaced it with a 135 (with padded luff for shortening) and never regretted it. Just last November, I bought new sails and again went with a 135. From my experience, I believe you will be quite happy with a 135.

i couldn't be happier with the 135% i just bought from Hyde... I had a 150 and it was a monster that was only practical in 10 knots or less of wind...

On my 25D - pretty much the same boat, I think I use a 130 on a furler. It is just fine below 12-15kts. Above 15knts I dial it down to about 100+/- and works fine. At wind speeds above 15kts maintainence of perfect sail shape is not so important. I haven't had the experience but 150 seems like too much canvas unless you very very frequently are in light air.

Thank you, Dick. You have pretty well confirmed what I was thinking.
