Changes in Provincetown, MA harbor

We just visited Provincetown, MA for the first time since 2015 and there have been some major changes there which in no way benefit small boat sailors or powerboaters.

Provincetown Marina has removed about 20-30 moorings, and in that space have added large concrete docks to accommodate millionaires’ mega yachts. The launch driver mentioned that they want to get rid of all the deep water moorings to make room for even more mega yachts. Dockage rates are ridiculous: up to 35 ft. is $5/ft. per night; 35.1-60 ft. is $5.50/ft. per night; 60.1-80 ft. is $6/ft. per night; 80.1-150 ft. is $6.50/ft. per night; 150.1-plus ft. Is $7/ft. per night. And those prices don’t include utilities or water. Moorings are $2.50/ft. per night. So our mooring cost us $85 per night. They did make improvements to the restrooms/showers, but not enough to justify the prices they’re charging.

Flyer’s mooring prices are a little bit better at $1.50-$1.75/ft. per night but their launch only runs from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. So don’t forget your dinghy.
