auxillary power

Post by sciottos »

New Typhoon owner and can't decide if I need a 20" or 25" long shaft...from direct measurement, it would seem to be the latter, yet You-Tube is full of videos of people sailing the Ty' with a 20" 4-stroke Yammie.

A 6 hp Tohatsu Sailmaster would seem to be the only choice if I need a 25" long shaft.

What do Typhoon owners say?

Thanks in advance.

My bad; that's a Tohatsu 'Sail PRO' and you have to buy this year's model to get the 25" long shaft...though they (onlineoutboards.com) still sells the 2015 model which was only 20"...

Consider the following.

-Get rid of the original ob bracket

-Install a modern bracket that you can raise 4/5 "

-Mount a 4hp ob on it - and if you can get a 2 cycle ob (used) (they are lighter)

This system worked well for me when I owned my TY
