It would be really helpful if you could locate it geographically, to narrow things down a bit. Are we talking California, Gulf Coast, Great Lakes, or East Coast? You will find this Board to be the most helpful when you can make your question as specific as possible.

I’ll first direct my reply towards Carl...

If you haven’t heard of or recognize the vessel by name/know anything about it then you’re wasting both of our time by replying with an answer that faults how I’ve asked the question. You’ve either heard of it or you haven’t...

mgphl52 - Yes that is the current owner of the vessel.

More curious if someone had sold this vessel to them or if there wer any name changes along the way such as with my ‘Libby’

Will wait for more replies... May grab a spare :)

The vessel documentation records show all names used for the specific vessel. I provided a link to the site in my 1st reply...

OceanSailor:

You are new to this board and may not be familiar with many of the sailors who regularly post on this board.

Carl T. has been a valued member for many years and regularly posts on this board. He always provides helpful suggestions, comments, etc. His ideas are valued by all. Frankly, when I read your post I had the same questions Carl posted and the same thought as Jim W. (another valued member of this board) who is apparently now enjoying Barritts Beer in Bermuda. :D :D

I am confident your comments directed to Carl are solely attributable to a lack of coffee or a lack of sleep. It has happened to me many times.

Mike is one of our resident computer geeks (I use the word "geek" with all the love and respect I can muster for my friend Mike since I can barely turn on a computer. ) His information from USCG Vessel Documentation Center is the most up to date. It appears the current owner did not register to renew USCG documentation in April 2018.

Coincidentally, it appears the apparent current owner of S/V Gallant John lives a short distance from me. If I may provide any assistance to you please let me know.

And a belated welcome to the Cape Dory board :!: :!: :D :D
Fair winds,

Roberto
