CD27 Halyard

Post by skipsmagic »

Hi, my 1983 CD27 came with two brand new halyards but they are 1/2" Sta-set. The current ones are 3/8" and one is through the mast and the other is external. Has anyone ever replaced there 3/8" halyards with 1/2"? The mast is on top of the boat and it looks like it will clear but tight.
Thank you.

1/2" seems way to big. The manual calls for 3/8" and with todays cordage you could probably get by with 5/16" but the 3/8" is better for handling. Even our
Genoa sheets are only 7/16". I would be afraid of the 1/2" chaffing at the masthead.
