Anchor Roller Extension? Cape Dory25D

Post by BillRuth »

I want to use a Rocna 10 on my Cape Dory 25D. Does anyone have a solution to add an anchor roller extension "over" the existing bronze anchor roller. I do not want to modify/cut the existing bronze bow roller/jib forestay original equipment.

I am curious. Doesn't your 25D have an anchor locker? I stowed a Danforth in the locker on my 25D. Or will the Rocna not fit in there?

Hi,

I mounted an anchor roller on top of the existing teak. It may not be perfectly pleasing to the eye, but it works. I was going to post a picture but do not seem to be able to locate one.

Having a heavy anchor in the locker when you need it in a hurry does not seem to be ideal. It is an essential piece of safety equipment from my perspective. It needs to be where it is capable of being deployed easily and quickly. Others may have contrary opinions, yet no regret has ever been experienced with it mounted and ready to deploy. Will try to remember to get a picture and see if it can be posted here. If you search this site, I believe there is a picture of a similar mount on a 25 here somewhere.

Here are a couple of pictures which show how it was mounted. It is bolted in place and can be removed which would leave a couple of holes to fill. It is very convenient to deploy and store the anchor.
