Hi Gang,
If you're interested in attending a CDSOA float-in at Milford, CT the weekend of July 7th, 2018, please reply to this post.
I'd like to plan a float-in which would take place in the late afternoon or eventing at Milford Lisman Landing (town dock) at the head of navigation and right in the heart of downtown Milford. This gives folks the time to sail to Milford from their home ports.
The marina is in a park-like setting with picnic tables. There's even a little ice cream parlor where you can get an cone, shake or sundae. A short walk across the footbridge takes you into Fowler Field and Wilcox Park which also has a picnic area, a covered pavilion, hiking trail with viewing area, tennis courts and ball fields. There are concerts every Friday evening in the pavilion starting about mid-July, so we'll miss that. Since the marina is in the heart of downtown Milford, there are lots of restaurants. So depending on how many of us there will be, we can either have a potluck picnic or dine at a restaurant. We can either meet on Friday or Saturday or both. Please let me know. Since it's right after Independence Day, I have a feeling we'll have to reserve slips well in advance. They also have moorings that are located closer to the mouth of the river and there's the Milford Yacht Club too. The YC launch will take you upriver to the town dock.
Thanks,
Cathy

Hi Cathy,
I would be interested, and this time may actually show up (lol). Unless there is a northly wind, it's an easy sail out of Port Jefferson harbor.

Yes, it's a very easy sail to/from Port Jeff and Milford with the prevailing summer southwesterly winds. We have done it often. As a matter of fact, we plan on being in Port Jefferson on Thursday, July 5th. We'll probably anchor off Old Field Beach. Where do you keep your boat? Friday we'll head over to Milford. It's less than 15 nm, so it's even quite doable with a northerly wind and an early start. But more often than not, the winds are light.GeorgeH wrote:Hi Cathy,
