Tiller Handle

Post by Peter Jackson »

My tiller handle broke on my CD25 Buglight and I need a replacement. I found Progressive Woodworking online and I am wondering if anyone has used them or has any suggestions as to where else I might get a replacement tiller handle? Thanks.

I ordered one for my CD25 form here and was pleased with the product.

Thanks Chris. Did you go custom or use the stock issue for the CD25? My butt end is 1 1/4" H x 1 1/4" W. The butt end on the stock issue is 2" H x 1 1/4" W. Seems like it would fit fine.

I used the stock and it fit fine. I used the old tiller as a template for drilling the holes. Be aware that if you drill the holes centered on the 2” measurement when you rest the tiller it will hit the bolt in the bottom center. This means the hand placement is a bit higher than with the old one. I was going to redrill it but my wife actual likes it this way better. You will find it a much more rugged tiller then the original.

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered one from Jeff at Rudder Craft this afternoon. Very helpful. He recommended the 2"H x 1 1/4" W. The season is almost upon us. Happy sailing.
