Moonshadow.
There is of course another option. We use a custom built rotating arm side mount engine bracket on the Far Reach. It can be unbolted and removed easily. Three bolts and about 10 minutes.

When not in use, the engine rotates up and stows along side like a small dinghy engine hanging off the pulpit. Our rotating arm is about 16l long on the FR due to our freeboard. On a Ty is would be about 10” I suspect.

Let me know if you want more info.

The side mount is brilliant. It may over power the aesthetics of my boat. Where did you get it? I would like to explore it. I have never seen anything like it and if I cannot use it for my Typhoon Senior I may use it on my next boat...

Moonshadow. I agree...it's a very neat set up. I have been asked about the bracket many times but have never gotten around to putting the info together with how it works. I'm working on it now. I'll make a separate post in a couple days. Is that OK?

Moonshadow. As promised, I posted about it on the Cape Dory Discussion forum and linked there to a detailed post on our website. Let me know if you have questions I did not answer.

John, thanks for the post on your website explaining this. The video was great. I keep having thoughts of coming to NC and imposing on you to show me your beautiful boat!!
