URGENT Motor mount for Typhoon

Post by Graziella »

Hello ALL,

So... not sure if other people started their boat owner/skipper/captain career as I did... but hope not!

My plan for Saturday morning was to move my Typhoon from the yard to the marina. So I went to the yeard, placed the engine on the mount, turned it on for the first time in its life and left the yard. I said a few times to myself: don't forget to attach a rope for security. And I also said: yes, I'll do it in a minute.

After something like ....15 minutes... the wood of the mount broke and I saw my wonderful brand new 30min old suzuki 2.5 disappearing into the water of the bay...
GONE. Really very much gone.

Sooo... I am now looking for a motor mount. I have the original one but the handle of the engine got stuck on the metal frame. I replaced the wood with a bigger piece but at that point, the engine is too high and the propeller is almost out of the water.
I'd like to find something like this from rig-rite, anyone has it for sale?

Thanks!

Graziella, I'm sorry to hear of your recent payment to the tuition of life. But if it's possible, you could find that motor and
bring it up. Here's a link to what may be involved:

I am thinking with a little distance this will make a humorous story. Maybe too soon now.

Strangely enough, I had the exact same experience on the same day you did. I've been trying to bring a CD22 back to life after it lived through Hurricane Harvey. I re-rigged it completely, mast and all (thanks to many suggestions from this board) and was taking it out for it's maiden voyage, when backing it out of its slip the motor mount pad split in half, the back up bicycle lock broke and my new Tohatsu Sail Pro sunk to the bottom of the lake. I've retrieved it and just ordered a new pad today, which is on sale through today at WestMarine: https://www.westmarine.com/buy/garelick ... 4;--488049.

We drank the champagne anyway.
