Re: Here we go again...
Well, sadly, this system is now a full blown TS named Philippe. I knew a kid named "Phil" years ago. I did not like him then and I do not like Philippe today.
TS Philippe has also drifted a little to take a slightly more northerly path. This will allow the "eye" of TS Philippe to go right over my home in South Dade County in the middle of the night (Sat night/Sun morning). What a joy
On a much more serious note, and much more importantly, TS Philippe is going to take a path directly over 80% of the Florida Keys, further damaging the homes and businesses destroyed by Hurricane Irma just a few weeks ago (10 September 2017) that are just beginning the rebuilding process. Very sad.

Captain Hook:
Sorry for delay in responding. TS Phillippe did minimal damage in my area. Mostly fences and trees knocked down (the ones that were not knocked down during Irma). The Keys took another nasty hit but not nearly as bad as Irma.
To All Who Have Been Affected by Storms This Year:
I am well aware that there are almost three (3) more weeks until the official end of hurricane season 2017. I am also painfully aware that Mother Nature does not operate on a calendar year basis.
That said, I am prepared to make an UNOFFICIAL announcement that today, 11 November 2017, Veteran's Day, is the end of hurricane season 2017.
To All:
On a somber note, please take a moment to remember all those who have served, and are serving today, to protect all of us.

Not related to TS or Hurricanes but have to share.
My mid 30's daughter went to a wedding this past weekend, one of her high school friends. During the round of toasts, the bride's 93 year old grandfather, a WWII Vet stood up and offered a toast to all the Vets in the room!
My daughter said there wasn't a dry eye in the room!!!!!

Re: Here we go again...
Wow, a toast from a WW II vet. Wonderful!
I'm a vet myself and always attend either the local Memorial Day events in New Hampshire, or the Remembrance Day events here in Nova Scotia.
Just a few WW II attendees this year.
As I lost my two eldest brothers, both vets, in the last few years, it's a more special event for me now.
An odd, somewhat sad, thing happened at our ceremony here in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia last weekend. Each year, just as the roll call is finished and the wreaths are all placed at the cenotaph in a wonderful ceremony, a CAF Hercules does a flyover salute, always a nice touch that the vets all love.
This year, we had no flyover. It seems a local person has a few chickens and complained to the CAF that the plane scared the chickens. The CAF asked our mayor to sign an assumption of liability for any damages to the chickens, or they would not do the flyover. Not knowing what the damages could be, the mayor could not sign the document, hence, no flyover.
Seems that a few eggs are more important than the feelings of the vets and the memories of the old comrades. Such an un-Canadian thing to happen.
Oh well. Thanks to all who remembered their vets last Saturday. We all deeply appreciate it.

Terry,
Many Thanks for your service! I'm also very sorry to hear that "an egg or two"
were more important than honoring all who gave all to keep this country free.

Re: Here we go again...
Spent 9 days cleaning up our property in Key West. Damage very light and consisted of down fences and debris removal. At least two Cape Dories on the rocks or beach. Enclosed is what appears to be a CD 25 on the jetty. Something to keep in mind as we move our CD 28 down there next Spring.
Only major damage to a home in Key West appears to be one on Williams Street, which had a tree fall down on it. I did have a small palm fall on our KW cruiser...My KW weather station performed as designed....hurricane=missing coconut.
Best Wishes for a great holiday season
Pete
