How about 25 feet Cape Dory sailboat?

I live in an isolated mining town located north of 52nd parallel
in northern Quebec. I am looking to buy a used wellbuilt and reliable
25 feet sailboat with lested keel and a large ballast/displacement ratio.
I plan to navigate on a huge interior lake with frequent 3 to 6 feet high waves.

I have few years of sailboat experience mostly on Laser and Laser II deriveur.

With a lot of models and company (Kirby, Tanzer, Benetteau, Jeannot, Dufour, Corbin, etc...),
it is very difficult to get informations and to see models from my specific geographic situation.

A friend of mine told me about 25 feet Cape Dory and I saw on the net used Cape Dory advertised.

Is a 25 feet Cape Doty sailboat would be a good used boat choice for my needs?
Is it possible to find one in excellent condition especially for the fiberglass hull?
What do I have to pay attention to figure a used 25 feet Cape Dory sailboat?
Is it possible to find good trailers?
Is it possible for us in Canada to buy a US sailboat?
What are procedures to import a used sailboat in Canada?
