Would like to get advice on best way to install chain plate on port side for a cape dory 28.
Appreciate any photos of chain plate installation.
Leaning towards using rectangular piece of G10. Fiberglass to hull then tie the side stays somehow to the G10. Maybe use turnbuckles.
Thanks

Searching past discussions will bring up many posts about retrofitting chainplates.
JD-MDR posted a picture of a G10 backing plate in his post from 5/21/17 (http://www.capedory.org/board/viewtopic ... 10#p195550):
I would avoid any construction that involved turnbuckles below the deck.

Have you seen another members site about his 28? http://www.sbastro.com/FeNIX/Projects/P ... temsFS.htm

Will Keane, who used to run the quality control department at Cape Dory, recommends G10.
