Pettit Sea Gold

Anyone try Pettit SeaGold yet? Sound too good to be true. Three coats in a day, clear amber finish and clean up with soap and water. Just saw an add in Boat US magazine.

Looks awful.

And if you want it to look good, put something else on top of it, as the instructions on the can suggest. I used it on a small section of teak taff rail and let it dry. It's not a semi-gloss as described, or even a mat finish. It's a dull translucent and the best description I can think of is "dead skin". I threw the remaining 95% of the can in the dumpster where it belongs.

Sailing involves the courage to cherish adventure and the wisdom to fear danger. Knowing where one ends, and the other begins, makes all the difference.
