Typhoon Weekender Shackle Question

I just raised the new main on a ty weekender I purchased....It caught my attention how far the front of the main was behind the mast when raised...one inch or slightly more....I was thinking the main would be within maybe a half inch at most....the overall length of the shackle is 1.75 inches if that helps....thanks...
