Shroud Chafe Protection

Post by gates_cliff »

I checked the user manual that is linked on this site and found that the back stay, fore stay, and upper shrouds specify 7/32" cable and the lower shrouds are 5/32" In searching for chafe protectors on West Marine, and others I find the 5/32" dimension but not the 7/32". There is 1/4" available and since that would only be 1/32" bigger, wondering if it would work.

I know this is a long winded post for such a simple question but that seems to be how things are working in my life, in general, recently.

Also I don't have a micrometer to measure the cable.

We have those on Slainte, our 1980 27. Take a 1/4" drill bit, or 15/64 if you have one, and drill them out. It is easy to do.
