This may sound "dim" too, but:

My gauge had an off/on switch on the back, which I did not know until I took it out of its pod to send it off to be checked out.

So make sure that your gauge is not simply off!

Revising this topic:

My depth sounder works, I think. But, I get multiple readings, like bouncing back and for the between (for example) 4 and 12 feet! I contacted Moor and they said I'd need to ship the device to them to test it out. Wondering if anyone has any experience with this sort of problem.
