Eight of us have decided to place a bulk order for replacement bow holding tanks. The same bow tank fits several Cape Dory models: 28, 30, 36, I-9, I-28, and the I-35.
By ordering in bulk, we have been able to get the price down to a little over $200 (plus shipping). The price will be further reduced if more tanks are added to the order.
These tanks will be constructed of 3/8” polyethylene and ports may be placed anywhere on the tank (some of us are adding a port for a macerator pump, changing ports to more logical positions, etc.). These will be high quality tanks from a very reputable manufacturer.
If you are interested, check the specifications on my web site at: cd30c.tropics.usf.edu

If you want to order a tank with the group please e-mail me immediately as we will be placing the order very soon!!

Just curious......who is Bayhead Products? I recently built a new tank and did a lot of research on the bow tank before deciding to construct my own. I discovered several places willing to make the tank but didn't come across Bayhead. Is that Bayhead tank a extrusion welded tank or a spin welded tank like Kracors? Are the fittings spin welded into the tank wall or are they extrusion welded? I think folks might be appreciative of more detail on the different aspects of the tank and who the company is.
FYI, last spring or so when I obtained a wholesale price on the tank for a single unit it was slightly less than the $200 each you are being quoted for what I assume to be a retail quote. Perhaps that will help you determine whether or not you are getting a fair price on a bulk order for several at the same time.
Please post additional detailed info on the Bayhead tank as it would be good additional reference info.
Additionaly, I think anyone contemplating ordering a new tank strongly consider adding a second vent fitting to improve cross ventilation air flow within the tank to reduce odor build up caused by anaerobic bacteria.
Re: Need a new bow holding tank for your 28,30,36 or Intrepi
We considered Bayhead because they have a mold that was very close to that of Kracor and they are willing to place ports in different locations on each tank (Kracor would not do this). Bayhead supplied Cape Dory with some of these bow tanks. However, since their mold is very old and the wall thickness of their tanks would only be 1/4" (although they said they could be made thicker) we decided not to use them as a supplier. No further data on tank construction was aquired.

I have a CD 30 with the head in the forepeak and no V berth. The holding tank is in the bilge. I have been unable to find any specifications with regard to this tank. Does anyone know the capacity or anything else? I don't seem to be having any problems now but it is 15 years old.
Thanks.
