How do you remove those Teak Boards from lazarettes

Hello All,
Welcome to "Spring" (in the North East anyway)

Since it is raining hard around here today I noticed that I am getting water under the teak boards in the cockpit lockers.
Does anyone know the trick to removing those boards so they can be resealed?

Any insight would be a great help..

I have exactly the same issue - rain water intrusion in an apparent gap between the lazarette teak boards and the fiberglass. I have tried to determine how to remove the teak but have not been successful.

I have, however, decided (tentatively) to apply a coat of Flex Seal to the underside of the teak boards where they marry up to the fiberglass.

I have no idea if it will work but it appears from ads, demos, etc. to be a relatively simple job to apply it with a brush (like paint). Supposedly, it then seals the area "painted". If it works it would seem to be a lot easier than trying to remove the teak boards.

Several months ago I asked in a post if anyone had ever tried Flex Seal. No one responded. Perhaps someone will respond in this thread.

They are attached by screws from underneath. You'll have to climb down into the locker or use a mirror and remove the fastenings from topside. If you look carefully at the posted picture you can see the bungs which hold the teak components together. With luck it should not be necessary to completely disassemble.
Rustoleum makes a product called Leak Seal which is less than half the price of the "as seen on TV" product.
I put a bead of caulk around on the outside and liberally lathered the bottom from inside the locker to reduce the drips to a tolerable level rather than dissembling the whole unit.

I agree with Jim, clean the perimeter of the teak and glass then wipe with acetone. Then run a bead of caulk around the entire perimeter (all four sides). Maybe use 4200 don't use 5200.

I recently tried removing mine. There were five screws which came out easily. Then the wood was connected to the glass sufficiently that it did not just pull off. Rather than work at getting it off, as there were more pressing projects underway, I put the screws back in to wait until more time was available to work on it perhaps in the fall. It did not seem like a good idea to dive into another project with the prospect of a spring launch not too far in the future. Still have waxing to finish and bottom paint to apply.

Last year, I had some repairs made to my deck and cabin top. It was found that the boards inside the cockpit lockers had rotted. There's a guy in the marina where I am that is a real shipwright and he agreed to remanufacture and painted, and installed. He did a perfect job. Next time I'm over at my boat I'll take a photo or two and post.

Well, The answer is in.

As I started looking in to "sealing" the outer edge with 4200 or the like, a quick poke with a screwdriver showed the wet corners of the fiddles were rotten.
Having nothing to loose ( but another weekend) I removed the boards.

After pulling out the little screws the boards are in fact only held in by whatever caulking the installer chose at the time.
Mine were installed with a few thousand pounds of 5200.
SO... they did not survive.
The rotten areas let go but the rest came up.

I used a Fien Multitool with a flat tip that came with the set-up. It worked great to loosen the caulking.
I have attached some photos to show the effort.

I'll send a few after the fix.
