I chose to use this style. The gypsy on my manual windlass handles it with no issues whatsoever. I tapered my tucks after the fifth tuck just for appearances sake. Both styles will get the job done.
Latest update: No pics will be coming... after review of gear on hand, we decided to buy a pre-made 5/8s 8-plait plus 30' of 5/16s chain from Defender.

FWIW, I used that website to make a chain-to-three-strand splice for my anchor rode many years ago. I don't have pictures, but it has worked well for both my catboat and, since I've owned her, for my 25D. I used an extra-heavy chain and rode for the catboat, so all I had to do was switch anchors.

I completed the new sail cover for the main sail.
It was the largest canvas project I had ever taken on and I learned a lot! For anti-chafe around the mast I used Phifertex on the back side of the cover. Also, instead of installing a zipper or Velcro down the front of the cover, I used 6 twist-lock fasteners. I figured these would never go bad and they are not susceptible to UV damage or becoming dry and brittle like a zipper.
Next up, the 12 volt panel and then a new cover for the stay sail.

My winter project was to build a butterfly hatch for my CD36 and also replace the nav station with a new non-laminated table. Wish I could show a photo of the hatch. Mahogany with real bronze bars. One of a kind for sure.
