Dockage Specifications

Post by jerzyjoe »

I am moving my CD 31 from Barnegat Bay to the Chesapeake in the spring. I am looking for a facility located on the western shore, within an hour's drive of the DC area, plenty of water for 4.9 draft, pleasant surroundings, 30 amp electric and well maintained shower facilities. Beyond that, access to skilled staff, haul-out services and winter storage would be priorities if affordable. Fuel doc, pool, internet, pump-out i can seek out elsewhere.

Any recommendations?

I hope this is an appropriate subject for this forum.

Thank you.

Look at Flag Harbor in St. Leonard, MD, It's south of DC down route 4.

I like Solomon Island area. Plenty of marinas, nice places to eat and a weekend sail north to Annapolis or south to Tangier Island and the 18th century. Prices even nicer if Govt or military by keeping boat at one of the military marinas.

Soloman is a beautiful place. My son keeps his Pearson 28 II at Spring Cove. Would be my first choice if not for the 1.5 hour drive.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will take a look at Flag Harbor.

I'm in Galesville, which is less than an hour from D.C., traffic permitting(always a caveat in the D.C. area). I like Flag Harbor and Solomons just a longer drive. I live in Northern VA, just south of DC and can make it from my house to my boat in less than 45 minutes.

if you have solomons in your sites, you can't beat zahniser's. our stay there could not have been more pleasant. knowledgable staff, clean facilities, great service. restaurant on site has great food. easy access to the open water. and this is not to take anything away from spring garden. just another choice.
