ACCESS TO CDSOA WEBSITE
Was anyone else unable to access this CDSOA website yesterday afternoon/evening I could not access from about 1400 hrs to 2200 hrs. I am trying to determine if it was just my computer or if there was a problem with the website. Strangely, I was able to access all other websites I normally visit.
Thanks
Thanks

Yes, something went awry with the server is my guess. After having my browser time-out a few times, I tried to ping CAPEDORY.ORG and that failed as well. Just glad to see the site back on-line today!

Re: ACCESS TO CDSOA WEBSITE
I posted a reply to the Sherwin-Williams post yesterday and it seems to have disappeared!

While I have great respect for your computer skills (mine are non-existent), I am convinced that our CDSOA website was "hacked" by the Russians (a/k/a "state actors"). The evidence that I have to support this Russian hacking is Tim's post documenting the fact that his post was stolen; this was obviously done by these "state actors".

Has anyone noticed any more of those Borei-class Russian submarines? So far we do not think they have not gotten this far up the Mississippi, but then again, my post was stolen

Tim,
Did you actually 'see' it posted, after pressing submit?
Who knows, maybe your post is the one that brought down the server!

Re: ACCESS TO CDSOA WEBSITE
Funny you should say this because the second most frequent visitors come from the Russian Federation... this is a screen snapshot of the country of origin for the internet address of each visitor to the website for November. We don't get a ton of information about visitors... just the internet address (which you can lookup the locale for online)... the locale is very general... just the location of the internet service provider for the ip address assigned to a visitor's machine. We also get information about what a visitor is trying to do. In the case of our Russian friends... they are almost all programs run by hackers which are attempting to compromise (unsuccessfully) the bulletin board. The hackers want to register bogus userids and try to post links to bogus websites which will install malware on user computers. We have been very successful in thwarting these attacks.Sea Hunt Video wrote:Mike:mgphl52 wrote:Yes, something went awry with the server is my guess. Re: ACCESS TO CDSOA WEBSITE
Assistant Webmaster Dugan:
Thank you for validating my hypothesis with your scientific, evidence based, detailed and accurate analysis of those accessing our website. While lacking the computer skills of a "webmaster" I had a hunch it was the "Russkies" that shut down our website the other day - probably while they installed spyware, malware, and other "badware" stuff, etc.
I am reminded of the following expression which I believe is apropos of this issue:
"Just because you are paranoid does not mean the bastards are not out to get you"
It has served me well over the years.
