CD 30 hull number

I would like to put my CD 30 hull number on my new mainsail. Here's the problem. it was scrathed off the CD 30 plate in the companionway.

Is the serial number on the transom the CD 30 number, or just the hull number for all cape dories?

The boat is a 1984 and the serial number in the HIN number is 282.

The hull number is the CD30 hull number. And my 1983 is hull number 269 so your number makes sense.

Raven is an early 1984 model and the hull number within the HIN is 309. You should be good with your number, Steve.

Thanks guys. The HIN says the boat is 1983, but the title says 1984, so it must have been very early in 1984.

Just told my sailmaker to put 282 to the main.

The month and year are molded into the liner too, I'll have to check and see where that is. I believe it's under one of the cabin berths.

Christine C had an 80's vintage label maker sticker (you know, red with the pink/white embossed numbers) with 07-24-82m on the cockpit locker. I assume that is when the deck was made even though she's listed as an '83. I'm sorry to say, it fell off and I lost it this winter while redoing the cockpit sole -- it seemed kind of fitting.

Our CD30C was sold to us as a 1985 and the hull # says 1984. Where we live, the same thing happens with cars. There is a usually year of manufacture and a differeent (newer) model year. Best of luck! It's just an old boat either way. Enjoy it and don't worry about the details you can't change.
