I can't swear to it, but I'm pretty sure it's 1/4 inch.

My 25D was on the hard for 6 years. As part of my restoration I did alot of engine work which included the stuffing box (opted not for a dripless to keep things simpler and cheaper). Got the pretty stuck stuffing box apart with some liquid wrench and creative leveraging. The 25D has a 1" shaft. Used Western Pacific Trading PTFE FLAX shaft packing 1/4 inch. Has been in use now for 3 years, no problems. When first in the water did a few series of adjustment. Got it to about a drip a minute when idle, I think, something along those lines. I also check the temperature of the stuffing box and shaft peridically with a thermal laser gun. Have not had an issue, they're in the 75 to 85 degree range, even after a good multi hour run. The engine mount bed captures the dripped water and I usually empty out about a quart of water twice a month maybe.
