I am new owner of a CD 25 am scared to death to put up the mast. I have done it OK with my Catalina 22 but this is a whole new ball game. Any tips, secrets, advice would be greatly appreciated. I can get a boat yard to do it for approximately $300 dollars but I would like to do it myself.
Thanks, Cliff

Cliff:
This thread may give you some ideas:

If you do a search on this website you may find several other threads on the issue.
I, for one, would never consider raising the mast alone on my Cape Dory 25D (or your Cape Dory 25). Too much risk. I recently watched a crew lower my mast. It required a crane, etc. to do it properly without causing any damage to mast, rigging, deck, etc.
Whatever you decide - good luck

Re: CD25 MAST Questions
We have a lift house here at our harbor, but when the water is too low to motor over to the lift house, the accepted method here is to pull you boat up between to other boats and have them raise your mast with there main halyards. This operation takes a lot of people, but when a fellow sailor needs help, we manage to corral a good size crew. You will need a lot of fenders, a minimum of two people on each lift boat and at least three on your boat.
