Peter Wallace, caretaker of S/V Lady Jane (1983 Cape Dory 25D, Hull Number 120) passed away in August 2015.

As I stated in another post involving the sale of S/V Lady Jane, I met Peter in September 2010. I looked at S/V Lady Jane but Peter was not yet able to part with his love. Once I acquired S/V Bali Ha'i Peter made a special effort to always check up on how I was doing and offered substantial advise and encouragement on a few projects I took on, including replacing the Genoa winches with Lewmar self-tailing winches. I have been fortunate to meet some very nice folks through Cape Dory sailboats. Peter Wallace is one of the very nicest men I ever met anywhere.
CROSSING THE BAR
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

Re: The Passing of Peter Wallace
Sorry to hear. As you know, Joe Myerson and I spent a delightful day with Peter doing a pre-survey inspection for you, which ended with a couple of beers with him at Marina Bay. He was a good guy and a good caretaker.

Re: The Passing of Peter Wallace
I should have posted this information earlier: While sailing with fellow 25D owner Pete Senopoulos, who also used to crew for Peter Wallace, I learned that Peter had crossed the bar. He certainly loved his boat, and Neil and I had a great time with him while checking her out for Sea Hunt. When I last saw him, a few years later, he was in terrible physical shape, using a walker and having a tough time getting around.
RIP Peter.
