S/V Myrdie III, SAIL Magazine
The cover of the August 2016 issue of SAIL magazine has a beautiful photo of a Cape Dory Typhoon Senior, S/V Myrdie III, skippered by Sam "Woody" Norwood. It is part of the excellent article on a gathering of classic sailboats in April of this year in the Carolinas. Mr. Norwood is the founder of the Classic Boat Rally.

I saw that photo. I would like to know more about that sprit that he has for the Asymmetric. If that is not a permanent sprit, I would be interested in trying that on Slainte.

Tim:
I do not personally know Mr. Norwood. I only provided information from the SAIL magazine article.
I have checked the CDSOA directory and do not find his name listed. I assume, sadly, that he is not a member. Perhaps Cathy M. or one of the bridge officers might have more information.
His Cape Dory Typhoon Senior appears to be home ported in Beaufort, SC. Perhaps one of our members in that area has additional information about Mr. Norwood.

To me it kind of looks like a whisker pole with a special attachment near the bow to lock it down?tjr818 wrote:I saw that photo. I would like to know more about that sprit that he has for the Asymmetric. If that is not a permanent sprit, I would be interested in trying that on Slainte.

Re: S/V Myrdie III, SAIL Magazine
Myrdie III has moved 80 odd miles north to Charleston, SC and has been renamed Moonshadow. She is a lovely boat and I am proud to have had the opportunity purchase her. I am sailing her every chance I get. Charleston has some wicked river and tidal currents and a strong motor is more than just a luxury. I am looking for the largest most powerful motor I can fit in the well. I do not want to mess with the classic and attractive lines. Any advice from CDSOA members is appreciated.
