CD 27 Sink Pump
I have to replace the sink pump on our CD 27 Troika. Any suggestions as to the best hand pump available?
Thanks for all replies.

Fynspray WS-62B
If you have the room and deep enough pockets! (The price of them has sure increased over the past 10 years!)

Re: CD 27 Sink Pump
That is my idea of a real pump, but alas, it won't fit in a 27. It would have been a tight fit for my checkbook too.

Re: CD 27 Sink Pump
I currently have an electric pump for the faucet water on S/V Bali Ha'i that I assume was installed by a PO although it may have been OEM. I would prefer to have some type of gravity or similar pump (hand or foot)and to remove the electric pump and wiring altogether.
Does anyone have any recommendations for the set up Any thoughts on a hand pump or foot pump other than Rich's $450 beauty

Re: CD 27 Sink Pump
On our previous boat we had a "Whale Gusher Galley Foot Pump" it worked well and being foot activated is a big plus. I briefly considered installing one on Mahalo but the only location that made sense seemed a bit intrusive. I believe you can buy knockoffs for about 1/2 the price of the Whale, caveat emptor! The Whale runs about $100 at Defender and it comes in left hand and right hand versions.
The Fynspray WS-62B can be had new for $300 at Defender but even that is more than a bit excessive!

Re: CD 27 Sink Pump
I love the looks of the Fynspray WS-62B, but when I held it in my hands, I could not believe how big it is. We would need a much bigger boat for that pump.
Instead we bought the Fynspray WS-60B only to find that, on our 27, there is not enough room between the sink and the ice box to install it.

Re: CD 27 Sink Pump
Seems like a dumb question, but I cannot tell from the diagram on the Defender website: what is the difference between a left of right Whale gusher foot pump? What do I need to know to pick one or the other? I have an electric system now, but want to eliminate it and put in a foot pump.
Re: CD 27 Sink Pump
I believe that on the Whale, left vs. right is where the hoses connect. On my CD30, I think I have a right, since the galley is on the right and the pump is just to the centerline of the galley with the hoses to the right, as I face the sink.

Re: CD 27 Sink Pump
I have a Fynspray WS-62 that came with the boat. I finally started to try and get the thing working and water into the sink. I had been just keeping 1 gallon jugs of water for drinking and hand washing, etc. I'd never use the water in the tanks for drinking anyway.
So, the pump isn't working. I had previously ordered repair parts for it. I looked up instructions on google and found what I needed. So, I start taking it apart and of course it won't come apart easily. I soaked the barrel in hot water an eventually got that part off and replaced the nitrile washer, etc. But....could not get the plunger loose from the handle.
Thinking I might try penetrating oil. Just wondering if anyone else has experience and/or suggestions.
As an aside, I had noticed, but ignored, some extra water lines and a filter etc in my engine compartment. When in there I was always focusing on the engine or cleaning or something. But when tracing the water lines to be sure they were connected, etc. I realized that there had previously been a pressure water system. There's an electric water pump, accumulator tank, and various water lines. I do not want to reinstall a pressure system, I just want to get my Fynspray to work. I guess I can just eliminate that set up completely.
Interestingly, there is what appears to be a home made (for lack of a better term) mixing valve with a line from the forward tank and from the tank under the port berth, then the line leading over to the sink. I guess it's a good idea since I was able to close the valves while I have the fynspray out of the boat.
Trying to add a snip showing the piece I cannot get unscrewed.
Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Re: CD 27 Sink Pump
OK, I finally got the pump disassembled and rebuilt. I tested it at home and it works fine. Reinstalled it on the boat and it doesn't seem to have enough suction to pull water from the tank. Does anyone have experience with these pumps that could provide help, suggestions, etc.....?

Re: CD 27 Sink Pump
Our pump will not self prime unless the water tank is full. We unscrew to top of the pump and fill it with water.
