Dear Fred:
You are right about the CD owners and memorabilia!!
All three daughters went to college in Providence and Smithfield, Rhode Island and I got to visit the East Taunton, RI factory quite frequently. They had a little shop there where the sold all kinds of CD items. We bought "dickies" to wear that had Cape Dory Yachts embroidered on the turtle neck section, the aforementioned pillow which was a white brown fabric with special woven tape in the corners with the CDY logo and Cape Dory Yachts prominently displayed, a hat which is white with a head band made of the the special tape and shaped like a pith helmet, but of soft material which is great covering the ears and with a green under brim to reduce the reflection and fatigue among various other items. Mrs. Vavolotis, Andy's and Chris's mother tended the store which was in the building where the boats were manufactured.
It was always neat to see the boats in the their various stages of manufacture and the apparent "loving" attitudes of the craftsmen. You could talk to them too! This was not a "high-speed" or "high-tech" operation and and things were done RIGHT!
Cape Dory Yachts, Inc. offered insurance to CDOA members and I bought my insurance through them a great price until they abandoned that part of the business and then I went to BOAT/US.
Andy appears to run Robinhood in a similar manner in Georgetown, Maine where he is experimenting with some exotic technologies in addition to building the big Robinhoods.
I have bumper stickers which say "I Luff My Cape Dory" and I SURE DO!!! and have for 16 years!
Best Regards!

BTW, my CD-31 is in Florida, too, on Merritt Island (east coast, near kennedy Space Center).
