Battery watering system

Don't forget to snap some photos while you work on that boat project, then share them here.

Battery watering system

Post by Jim Walsh »

Today I installed my batteries and the Flow-Rite battery watering system I purchased during the winter. Here is a hyperlink for those who are unfamiliar https://flow-rite.com/battery-watering/ ... /qwik-fill with a watering system. It's a bit expensive for some plastic doo-dads but the battery placement in the CD31 makes it a real chore to check your electrolyte levels. My starting and house battery are stored on a shelf in the port side cockpit locker. They are situated end to i.e. fore and aft the long way. The shelf is invisible unless you poke your head down into the locker. Because they are outboard along the hull you can't even kneel down in the cockpit and just lower them into position. You have to first lower them down then move them laterally onto their raised shelf under the side deck.
Now that I have the watering system installed and the batteries secured on their shelf I should not have to touch them again during this sailing season. For those who have easy access to their batteries.....I'm sooooo jealous :D
